AMC was established in 1954 from a merger of Nash-Kelvinator Corporation and the Hudson Motor Car Company. By 1958 the Nash and Hudson brand names had been dropped having been replaced with the Rambler name. In 1970 AMC acquired Jeep from Kaiser. Renault took controlling interest of AMC in 1983 and in 1987 Renault sold AMC to Chrysler Corporation.

AMX/3: It was to be American Motors answer to Ford’s Pantera and the anticipated mid-engine Corvette. Richard Teague led the design team that included Bob Nixon, Vince Geraci, and Chuck Mashigan to style the car. Giotto Bizzarrini’s operation located in Turin, Italy would hand build them using AMC’s 390 cu in (6.4 L) V8 engine mated to an Italian OTO Melara four-speed transaxle.
An order for thirty cars was placed, but only five were built before American Motors had to shut the project down for lack of funds. A sixth car was later completed from remaining parts. PRINTS AVAILABLEMET CONVERTIBLE RED HUDSON PRINTS AVAILABLE
